We deliver propane to customers. Should we hide our address on Google?

Hide the address if you do not serve customers there. Google calls a delivery-only operation a service-area business. Do customers also visit your site? It must meet Google’s rules for staff and signs. Then a hybrid profile can show the address and delivery area. Match the choice to what happens at that location.

Ask whether customers are served there

Can a customer arrive during the stated hours and be served? We suggest asking the office that question first. Getting mail at a site does not answer it.

Google’s service-area guide says a business without permanent on-site signage is not eligible as a storefront and should be listed as a service-area business. A hybrid business can show an address and delivery area.

Match the profile to the site

If you only travel to customers, remove the public address and enter the service area. If you serve customers both ways, enter both.

Google’s business guidelines set rules for a hybrid site. Your staff should be there. The site should be able to serve customers during its stated hours. Have the person in charge confirm the site type and hours before editing.

Set coverage on its own terms

Use the service-area guide for delivery coverage. Keep the website contact page in sync. Hiding an address does not call for a new listing in each town.

Next step

Have the office confirm walk-in service and hours. Bring that answer to a profile review before you show or hide the address.
