If a website company sets up my Google listing, who should own it?
Keep primary ownership with a responsible person at your company. Give the website provider a separate manager account for routine work. Google allows one primary owner. Managers can edit details, answer reviews and manage posts. They cannot add or remove users or remove the profile.

Set ownership before setup
We suggest naming the company’s primary owner before work starts. Have the provider show the roles in the profile. The office should know who controls access.
Google gives each user their own role. Each needs a separate Google account. You do not need to share passwords to let someone manage the listing.
Match access to the job
Owners can add or remove users and remove the profile. Managers can do daily work without those powers. Choose the role for the agreed job.
Our suggested record lists the profile link, responsible company account, outside users and person handling account recovery. Keep it in your own files.
Check roles before a vendor leaves
Google makes new owners and managers wait seven days for some actions. These include removing users and transferring primary ownership. Plan the change before the vendor’s last day.
Locked out? Use Google’s ownership process and our recovery guide. Add Search Console access to the exit checklist, but check each product’s access on its own.
Next step
Have the company’s responsible person check the current roles. Review the access list with us before the next setup or vendor change.
